WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

1

You will need the following: yoga mat, bolsters and blocks (if you have them) or big cushions for extra support (not one or two little ones, the more the better!), a blanket that you can roll up is a good alternative to a bolster, a blanket to stay cozy during śavāsana, fluffy socks, eye pillow / mask

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR YIN OR RESTORATIVE YOGA?

2

Whatever you feel comfortable in when practicing yoga. Some people prefer loose fitting clothes, some prefer the feeling of support from active wear. It’s totally up to you! Bring a jumper or cardi for extra cozy vibes during śavāsana

I’VE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE, DOES THAT MATTER?

3

Absolutely not, diva! I try to create an environment where people feel comfortable exploring what their body can do, and understanding how adjusting can completely transform how shapes and postures feel. Whether you have been practicing yoga for years or are completely new does not matter in the slightest. I have people with different mobility needs at my practices too.

WHAT IS YIN YOGA?

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE YOGA?

Unlike many other styles of yoga, yin specifically focuses on the connective tissue between our joints and muscles. Yin yoga is not about stretching the muscles, quite the opposite, it is about bringing awareness to the ligaments and tendons through a series of āsana (postures) that are held for much longer than usual. We might hold an āsana for 5 minutes or so, which may feel uncomfortable at first, especialy because we are so used to living in such a fast paced world. But, it is through the discomfort that we are able to build a deeper connection to our physical body, and understand how to create a sense of safety within that.

Restorative yoga is focuses on deep relaxation and rest. It is a nurturing style of yoga that focuses on passive stretching with the use of props to support the body in specific āsana, that like yin yoga, are held for longer than usual. This gives the muscles a chance to really surrender into deep relaxation.
